He Will Get You Home

During my years of ministry in Golden Meadow, LA, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with horses, which had been a lifelong desire. Two friends and I would buy 2yr. olds, break them and green reign them (teach basic reign and voice commands). We would then sell those who were average as saddle horses and keep the best and "fine tune" them for roping and general work with cattle. We made some money but mostly we just enjoyed ourselves. Every now and then one us would enjoy a horse so much we would keep it for personal use and give up our share of the next horse we worked. One such horse that I kept was a big bay mare with stocking feet and a white blaze. Chrystal was one of those horses that was not gun shy, I could shot a shotgun, rifle or pistol from the saddle and she would not flinch... so; I took advantage of that during the deer season. Each year, six or seven weeks before the opening of the season, we would bring our horses to the camp at the lease and corral them there. We would pay a local man to tend them for us so we did not have to trailer them back and forth the 125 miles. It did not take long to find out that Chrystal was honed into that corral. Since the other guys did not like to hunt without dogs, I was the only one to hunt through the afternoon. Once I learned that she knew the way back to camp, I just relaxed and tried to find deer. Once it became dark, I turned the reigns loose and sent her on her way and never worried about how to get back. Never did she get lost, never did she lead me away from camp... she always brought me back. Well, that is exactly what the Holy Spirit does for us in the spiritual realm. He knows the way home, He never gets lost, and He never leaves us stranded and away from God. We must learn to trust Him, and just relax in the saddle, and let Him lead us home. Listen again to the wonderful promise of Jesus; "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you." (John 16:13-14)
